Q: Hey, Doug: Who will be the starting five when the basketball Bucks take the court in 2007-08? Can you give some idea of how much of a step back the team will take minus Greg Oden, Mike Conley, Daequan Cook, Ron Lewis and Ivan Harris? And where will the Vanderbilt transfer Kyle Madsen factor in? - Jon Douglass, Lexington, Ky.
A: Hey, Jon: My stab at a starting lineup: senior Jamar Butler at the point; freshman Evan Turner or freshman Eric Wallace at one wing and sophomore David Lighty at the other; freshman Kosta Koufos at power forward; and senior Othello Hunter in the middle.
The 6-9 Madsen, who sat out last season as a transfer, could work his way into a lot of minutes as part of some serious big-man depth that includes 6-9 senior Matt Terwilliger and 6-8 freshman Dallas Lauderdale.
A player to watch is 6-2 point guard P.J. Hill, a junior-college transfer from Midland Community College in Texas. Will OSU challenge for a national title? No. Make the NCAA Tournament? Yes.
