Daequan Cook was originally drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers for the 21st pick in the draft but was immediately traded to the Miami Heat for Jason Smith and cash considerations. Heat coach Pat Riley believes that Daequan Cook will be the scorer that the Miami Heat need.

Daequan Cook was one of the top mid-range shooter to come around every season. He ticks it from the elbows with great confidence and efficiency. Daequan Cook finishes with dunks and is athletic at the rim. Daequan Cook is comfortable being a primary scoring option.

Future NBA Star:
Derrick Rose (born October 4, 1988) is a freshman basketball player for the Memphis Tigers. Rose is 6'4" and billed at around 200 pounds. He is considered the top point guard prospect of the 2007 high school class.

Rose attended Simeon Career Academy in Chicago, Illinois. His AAU team was the Mean Street Express.

Rose goes by the nickname “Pooh”, his grandmother called him that as a baby because he was chubby and yellow like Pooh Bear. Tattooed on Rose’s left bicep, is a wizard holding a staff in one hand, a basketball in the other and framed by the words “The Great Poohdini.” He owns two state championship rings. He has been compared to NBA stars, such as Dwyane Wade, and Jason Kidd. If he decides to go to the 2008 NBA Draft, he is expected to be a top pick.

He is currently considered the number one Point Guard in the nation by Rivals.com.
